Celebrating 40 years of faithful ministry.
The son of a Methodist preacher, Dr. James A. Scudder trusted Christ as Savior while a senior at the University of Kentucky. Soon after, he was called to preach the gospel and he attended Florida Bible College. In 1971, he, his wife, Linda, and two children Jim and Julie, arrived in Chicago where they started a congregation that would later become the Quentin Road Bible Baptist Church. After outgrowing several buildings, 40 acres was purchased in Lake Zurich.
In 1992, Dr. Scudder realized his vision of reaching beyond the Chicago-land area with the gospel of Jesus Christ. On May 16th, the Quentin Road Bible Hour was launched. Dr. Scudder featured his trademark verse-by-verse preaching and kept the Gospel simple by giving his wallet illustration at the end of every sermon. Hundreds of searching men and women began to call each week and our volunteer operators pointed them to assurance of their salvation.
In 1997, Victory In Grace aired its first radio broadcast. Across the country, listeners now had the opportunity to tune into the dynamic preaching of Dr. James Scudder. Victory In Grace continues to expand its presence into many major markets.
The once tiny storefront church outgrew its building once again and more facilities were needed. Again, the church members chipped in, building an 80,000 square foot addition to the present facilities. The additions included a beautiful 3,000 seat auditorium, a swimming pool for the preschool and elementary children, a barn with horses, new television and radio studios and eating areas for the growing staff and schools.
Today, Victory In Grace Ministries continues to reach souls around the world for God’s Kingdom. Whether it’s through a radio or television broadcast in the United States, an orphanage and child-care facility in India, or literature in the dark of prisons, We desire first and foremost to fulfill God’s call to share His love with the world.
