Dr. Scudder Visits Maximum Security Prison ANGOLA

Dr. Scudder, along with the founder of Awana, Art Rorheim, Reformers Unanimous Founder, Steve Currington, and Pastor Jim Scudder, Jr, senior pastor of the Westchester Bible Church, recently visited the maximum security prison in Angola, Louisiana.
Once considered the most dangerous and bloody prison in the entire country, it has experienced a revival under the leadership of Warden Burl Cain, a born-again believer who has brought the hope of the Gospel to prisoners, many of whom are serving life sentences without parole.
Dr. Scudder toured the facilities where the men are enrolled in Bible college classes and also viewed the area where prisoners help raise a special breed of horses. Dr. Scudder was also privileged to preach at the opening of their brand-new chapel facility.
It was an experience he will never forget. Says Dr. Scudder, “I was amazed at the sense of peace that these men have. Their lives have been totally transformed by the power of the Gospel. I never once felt threatened or worried as I walked past murderers, rapists, and other formerly violent criminals. God has done a tremendous work here through the faithfulness of Warden Burl Cain.”
Dr. Scudder visited a prisoner on death row, a man he found totally at peace with God and with his impending execution. He shared how God has used him to bring others to Christ.
Many prisoners shared with Dr. Scudder how his book, Beyond Failure changed their life. Only one copy exists at the prison facility and at least a dozen inmates have read it and delicately passed it on to others. Dr. Scudder promised the men that Victory In Grace would gladly send several more boxes of Beyond Failure to Angola!
Dr. Scudder also announced that Victory In Grace radio would be be broadcast on the prison radio station, which broadcasts messages from evangelical ministries around the country.
