Today’s Scripture: And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. 1 John 2:25

There was a man who had lost his camel. He was so furious that the camel was lost, he said, “If I ever find that camel, I will sell it for one dollar.” Shortly afterward, he found his camel, and he regretted his oath he said in anger. He did not want to sell his camel for such a small amount of money. The man went out, found an old stray cat, and tied it onto his camel.

Then he went to the market and said, “I have a camel to sell for one dollar, and a cat attached for 1,000 dollars. However, they must go together, they cannot be sold separately.”

How many times have we found ourselves in that kind of situation? We wished we never said what we said. We need to strive to be men and women who keep our word. If you are married, you must keep your word to your spouse. If you are a parent, you must keep your word to your kids. If you sign a document, your signature ought to mean something. You must do what you agreed to do. If at all possible, keep your promises. Others ought to know that your word means something to you.

God wants us to be like Him. He is faithful to us and keeps all His promises. What a blessing! God promises that we have a place prepared for us. He promises that He will never leave or forsake us. He promises that He will not allow any temptation without providing a way of escape. He promises that He is our Advocate. He promises that He is coming quickly. He promises that Satan will be cast into the Lake of Fire. Finally, He promises that He cannot lie.

God is a God of His Word. He means what He said! Trust Him in every area of your life, and give people a reason to trust you. Be a man or woman of your word.
