Today’s Scripture: So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 1 Corinthians 15:54-55

If you are born again, there are so many things to look forward to when you think about eternity. 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

We have no idea how wonderful eternity will be, but we do know some things about eternity. For example, we know we will walk on streets of pure gold. We know how huge the New Jerusalem will be. We know that the new earth will have no sea, and there will be a river as clear as crystal with the tree of life growing on both sides of the river. Finally, we know that this tree will produce a different fruit each of the twelve months.

There are so many things the Bible tells us to give us a taste of Heaven, but the best things about eternity are not what is in the New Heaven and New Earth but the things that are not in them. There will be no more death, sorrow, crying, or pain! The curse of sin will be gone, and we will be with our Savior forever!

We deserve an eternity in Hell, but God loves us so much that He gives us an eternity far beyond the best we can imagine. That ought to encourage you to serve God with all your heart. There is no sting to death; we can look forward to the day when we meet our Lord.
