Q&A with Dr. James A. Scudder Q.— What does Scripture mean by the phrase, “Faith, if it hath not works, is dead?” Are we not saved by faith alone?

A.—The phrase, Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone, is found in James 2:17. When we become confused on a particular portion of Scripture, the best course of action is to look at the verses before and after the one in question.
