Today's Scripture: Daniel 6
Today more and more Christians are asking the question, What can we do to gain the approval of the world? But when we look at the life of Daniel, we realize that our faith will never be popular. In fact, it makes us candidates for the Lion’s den. No matter what we do, the world will never approve of our allegiance to Jesus Christ. In fact, the Bible says that the world is at enmity with God (James 4:4)—whom we serve.
Look at the life of Daniel. Scripture says Daniel had a spotless reputation. The jealous princes conducted the equivalent of an FBI background search of Daniel’s life and found nothing to report. No skeletons in his closet. Perfect integrity and uprightness.
And yet, they still tried to have Daniel killed.
Daniel’s faith, our faith, makes us candidates for the Lion’s Den. Jesus himself said that if they hated Him, they would hate us.
That doesn’t mean we should walk around in fear. It doesn’t mean we should go out of our way to offend others. But it also doesn’t mean we should allow the opinions of men to shape our beliefs.
Instead, we should realize we are strangers and pilgrims on this earth. Our home is in Heaven. Jesus is the one we should seek to please.
