Stressed Not Distressed

Today's Scripture: 1 Peter 4:12-13

After spending 3-1/2 hours enduring the long lines, surly clerks and insane regulations at the Department of Motor Vehicles, a father stopped at a toy store to pick up a gift for his son. He then brought his selection— a baseball bat—to the cash register. "Cash or charge?" the clerk asked. "Cash," the man snapped.

He then apologized for his rudeness explaining, "I’ve spent the afternoon at the motor-vehicle bureau."

"Shall I gift wrap the bat?" the clerk asked sweetly, "Or are you going back there?"

Stress is part of our lives. USA Today recently published a poll. In response to the question, "How often do you experience stress in your daily life?" 42% said frequently, 38% said sometimes, 18% said rarely, and just 2% of the population said they never experienced it.

But the normal pressures of life don’t have to produce frustration, anxiety, or rudeness. We can also choose to react correctly.

We can decide to go to God with our stress and ask Him to help us deal with it. We need to ask for our Lord’s peace even as frustrations threaten to overtake us.

Why don’t you go to the Lord and ask Him to help you deal with every stress you are facing? He is sure to help you. You can count on His promise of provision and strength.
