More of the Same

Today's Scripture: Matthew 5:14; 2 Corinthians 4:4

If you have ever hiked through a thick forest at night, you know just how dark the woods can get. So pitch black you can feel the darkness. You can almost cut it with a knife.

I experienced this blackness many times as I led hikes through the Chippewa National Forest in northern Minnesota. Our church hosted family camps up there for many years.

Before every trip through those woods, I made sure to stock up on fresh batteries and an extra flashlight. Even though I was familiar with each trail and had trekked them many times before, I never wanted to be caught out there in the darkness. I needed the light.

This world needs our light. The darkness is getting blacker every day. Sin is taking a foothold in the lives of too many people. And yet the temptation for Christians is to dim their lights. To fit in with the world.

But let me ask you. Does the world need more of the same? Do people seeking the truth need more darkness?

No, the world needs more light. They need to see Christ. The need to hear the truth of the Gospel.

Let me challenge you today. Meet a need in someone’s life by keeping your light shining brightly. You may lead someone to the Savior.

Today's Quote:  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
