Today's Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:15
Imagine Tiger Woods giving a press conference at Augusta National, site of the prestigious Master’s tournament to say, "I’m the worst golfer in the world." Imagine our presidential candidates releasing a TV ad that says, "I really have no qualifications to lead this country." Imagine the CEO of Google telling his shareholders, "There are a lot better companies than Google."
You can’t imagine it—because it won’t happen. But what if I told you that the writer of the majority of the New Testament, the world’s greatest missionary and church planter, an early church leader who led millions to Christ and inspired them to serve faithfully—said these words, "I am the chief of sinners."?
Paul did say those words. And he wasn’t adopting some kind of false humility. Paul really felt it. Even though he’d accomplished great things for God, he never forgot where he came from. He was just a sinner, bound for hell, yet saved by God’s grace.
I wonder if any Christians would be willing to utter those words, "I am the chief of sinners."
Don’t ever lose the awe and wonder of God’s outpouring of grace and mercy on your behalf.
Today's Quote: I’ve never gotten over the wonder of it all. —Gipsy Smith
