Double Muddle

Today's Scripture: Matthew 7:5
Jesus gives clear insight into just what it means to judge others unfairly. He gives the word picture of someone judging someone who has a mote (or a small piece of lint) in his eye while he has a beam (or a large piece of wood) in his own eye. Now just imagine if you were being operated on and a doctor had a telephone pole in his eye.
Yet there are many Christians who do the same thing. They will judge others about the tiniest things and at the same time, there are glaring errors in their own lives.
This is the principle God gives us in regard to how we judge others. It doesn’t say not to judge others. It explains that before you offer advice, constructive criticism, or judgment, make sure you are not guilty of committing the same sin.
Don’t double muddle. If you go around with the same sin or worse as the one you are criticizing you are compounding the problem. Today, let’s get the beam out of our own eye before we judge another person. This is the only way that we can learn to judge what we ought to judge.
Today's Quote: Sometimes the Christian’s biggest blind spots are his own faults.
