The Real Difference

Today's Scripture: 1 Peter 2
As Christians, we know we’re supposed to be different from the world. But, today’s passage tells us that our difference doesn’t just mean refraining from sinful activities. It means being different in how we carry ourselves, how we react to our fellow man, and in the depth of love we carry even for those who do us harm.
This demonstrates what is meant by being a peculiar people. See there are many believers who rightly take a stand on Christian principles, but is that the only difference their loved ones and coworkers see in them? Or do they see someone who is compassionate, selfless, and kind? Someone who will go the extra mile to make sure the needs of others are met?
We don’t want to be known only by our opinions. God wants us to shine as lights—meaning there is something particularly attractive about the way we live.
That’s why God often chooses to send trials our way. This gives the unbelieving world an opportunity to see our faith at work.
Ask yourself today, what kind of difference am I demonstrating around the office, at family gatherings, in the community? Am I known only for my brash opinions or am I known for being giving and selfless?
Ask the Lord to help you make a difference today.
