The Importance of Children

Today's Scripture: Luke 18:16

One woman bragged to her next door neighbor about her son, a college student. “Why, our son is so brilliant, every time we get a letter from him we have to go to the dictionary.”

“You’re lucky,” the neighbor said. “Every time we get a letter from ours, we have to go to the bank!”

Sometimes it gets pretty expensive to raise children. Between their school supplies, clothing, doctor, dentist, and orthodontist bills, and more, often there isn’t a lot of extra money.

A couple in our church, the Smiths, has taken care of their grandchildren after school for many years. They pick the boys up from school, feed them a snack, and drive them to their various sports and activities until the parents finish work. These boys will always remember the influence of these wonderful people.

But our children don’t need things as much as they need us. They want more than anything for an adult to love them and give them encouragement.

If you don’t have children or your children are grown, perhaps you could invest in the life of a child.

Go ahead and invest in the future!
