Today's Scripture: Matthew 10:16
Satan is an ancient and treacherous foe. Never underestimate his power.
This doesn’t mean we should overestimate it either. Satan is a created being and cannot be compared with God. If there was a scale of 1-100, with 100 being the greatest, God would be 100 and Satan wouldn’t even be on the scale.
But we do need to understand what we’re dealing with and what is at stake.
Jesus prepared His disciples for everything they would face later. They saw Him casting out demons. In fact, He sent them out doing the same. But before He sent them out, He charged them to become “wise as serpents yet innocent and harmless as doves.”
We may not understand this as much in America, but I’ve been to countries all around the world where people are deeply enchained by demons. One lady in India sprang at me during a meeting. Her voice brought shivers down my spine. I said, “In the name of Jesus, I rebuke this demon,” and the woman fell immediately limp. Later, she trusted Christ.
We are called to bring God’s light to this dark world. And sometimes in doing that we are going to encounter opposition.
Don’t be surprised, dear one, if this happens to you. Instead, go to the Lord in prayer and ask Him for His wisdom and strength.
