Today's Scripture: Psalm 91:2
Some Christians’ minds are held captive by a single thought which can bring mind-numbing fear.
The enemy attacks by causing us to think, You’re no good; You’re of no use in the church or God’s Work; You’ve blown it so bad that you shouldn’t even try again. Or even, You’re going to lose your salvation.
These thoughts can keep us captive if we don’t understand how to allow the Holy Spirit to control our minds. If we allow these destructive thoughts to continue, then we will not be able to live a successful Christian life.
How do we control our thoughts? Remember to meditate on what is true. Meditate on a specific verse of Scripture that deliberately counter your destructive thoughts.
To bring this into the practical realm. Perhaps the thought of “You’re no good” has held your mind captive and kept you from serving Christ. You need to replace this lie with the truth of God’s Word. What is the truth? We are no good, but thanks to Christ, we have His goodness. Christ died for us before we did any good at all. Christ loved us when we were unlovely. Meditate on the following verse when faced with this destructive thought:
Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
