Wrestling With God in the Psalms

Today's Scripture: Pslam 73
I’ve often told my church that the most worn-out section of my Bible is the Psalms. One day, some little boys didn’t believe me. They said, “Pastor, can we see your Bible?” Sure enough, they inspected the middle pages and discovered that the Psalms were quite worn.
The Psalms is where we wrestle with God. And it’s okay to wrestle with God. Read the words of David, Asaph, and others as they brought their deepest concerns to the Almighty and found rest and refreshment.
This life is tough. It often doesn’t make sense. Sometimes it seems as if God’s truths are upside-down. The writers of the Psalms had many, many doubts. They nearly lost their faith. They couldn’t understand what God was doing in the world. So they did what every Christian must do—they were honest and open.
Sometimes I think we’re afraid to be honest with God. But are we honest with our neighbors and our family? We’ll pick up the phone and complain. We’ll shoot off an email. We’ll catch someone in the hallway at church.
But there are times when we have to abandon everything and go the sanctuary of God. This is where our perspective changes. Where life begins to make sense again.
Are you struggling today? Dive into the Psalms and talk to God.
