No Fair!

Today's Scripture: Ephesians 2:4
One thing we are all interested in is justice. We seek justice in all aspects of our lives. When we were children, we sought justice. Do you remember the games you played as a child? Do you remember saying or hearing the following statements?
a) That’s not fair
b) You cheated
c) That’s against the rules
Do you remember saying to your mother or father, “You gave brother more money than you gave me.” Or perhaps your own children or grandchildren have said something like that to you.
That’s because all of us want justice. But most of the time, we simply want what other people get. We don’t care if we have more than others. We only care if they have more than us.
Our American justice system is a God-ordained institution. Despite its flaws, it has often been used for good to see “justice served.”
Yet, do we want God’s justice? If we received what we deserved, we would be spending eternity in Hell. Our great God sent His own Son to bear our punishment, so that His justice could be served, and we wouldn’t have to be punished.
Instead of justice, we received mercy.
Have you thanked God for His mercy lately?
