Someone Else’s Armor, Someone Else's Life

Today's Scripture: 1 Samuel 17:12-58
Whenever you wear someone else’s clothes, drive someone else’s car, or even stay at someone else’s home—it just doesn’t seem right. Feels kind of out of place. Uncomfortable. Unnatural.
That’s how David felt as he put on Saul’s armor. Saul was trying to protect David, but David knew he had to fight the battle with what God had given him—a slingshot and a few stones.
There’s a lesson here. You can’t wear someone else’s armor to fight your battles for God. You can’t live someone else’s life. You can’t co-opt someone else’s spiritual victories.
Furthermore, what God does through another Christian, he may not repeat for you. You can rejoice in that, because God has a unique plan and special purpose for your life. He wants you to be yourself, in the very special package of gifts, talents, and circumstances that make you tick.
Too many Christians, especially young people, try fighting their battles with someone else’s armor.
Let me warn you. It doesn’t work. Instead, be the person God wants you to be and in doing so, you’ll see your own giants fall.
Today's Quote: There is only one you—and God has a unique plan designed with you in mind.
