Today's Scripture: Hebrews 9:24-28

The scientific community boldly claims science has replaced God. Apparently, we owe the creative genius behind everything to science. But let’s look at national headlines over the last decade: shameful terrorist attacks, a tragic space shuttle crash and cruel school shootings occurred. Is the situation any better on the local scene? Try reading the daily Obituary Column… Science at its best still provides no escape from death.

Science offers safety, but it cannot provide security. It informs us about our world, but it cannot provide wisdom. Does it hold the key to death and life? Great national tragedies are often blamed on a lack of preparation, as if more scientific research, more information, and more precautions would have prevented death and disaster. This is only partially true. Sometimes ignorance and lack of preparation are to blame for tragedy.

But the real truth is, only a split second separates all of us from death and eternity. Our future is in the hands of neither fate nor science, but in God’s hands. We may never know when we’ll take our last breath. But we can know where we will spend eternity when that day comes.

You can either put your trust in man, who will die, or in God, Who is eternal. Trust the Creator, or His creation. The answer is obvious. I hope you make the right choice.

Today's Quote: No man should be afraid to die, who hath understood what it is to live.
