Today's Scripture: 1 Samuel 30:7-10
Several years ago, a Fishing Club member’s husband died. They had a wonderful relationship and now she was more lonely than she ever thought possible. She wrote Victory In Grace asking for prayer, and my son-in-law, Neal, arranged for another Fishing Club member who had suffered a similar loss to write each other and pray for each other. Being called to action has helped both of them.
David sheds tears in his grief. But he remembers the Lord is with him and encourages himself in the Lord. Now, David asks the Lord what he needs to do next.
God told David he needed to pursue those who had kidnapped the women. God gave David a call to action.
But what if David had never asked the Lord what he should do next?
What if David had looked at the situation and said, “Everything is hopeless, I don’t feel like doing anything about it. The women are probably all dead anyway.”
You might be thinking, “That is ridiculous—of course David needed guidance from the Lord on what to do next! The poor women! How must they be feeling?”
Yet many times, we are so paralyzed by grief, frustration, and discouragement that we forget to ask the Lord what to do next.
Grief is very real. But maybe it is now time to ask God for guidance.
