Today's Scripture: Psalm 91:2

As I mentioned four days ago, John is feeling pretty depressed due to a low rating at work. This isn’t John’s fault as he is a hard worker and normally receives the highest rating.

John needs to do what David did. David wept. He wasn’t afraid to show his emotions. He had experienced a great personal and corporate loss.

John needs to know that it is okay to feel bad about what happened. This isn’t a time for him to put on a fake spiritual smile and say to people, “I’m doing just fine!”

But after a time of grief, he needs to encourage himself in the Lord His God. And he has to step down into the well to do this. He needs to take some time in the Psalms, reading one after another. He needs to make sure to stay in church and fellowship so the Devil doesn’t have a chance to tempt him.

Then John needs to actively seek the Lord’s will about what he should do next. Maybe he should share what happened with a Pastor or a spiritual friend. Maybe he should ask the church to pray for what he should do next.

God will help John every day and He will show John the next step on His agenda.

Have you gone through something similar to John’s trial? God will show you what to do. But sometimes you have to trust even when you don’t know the way.

Today's Quote: Let us keep to Christ, and cling to Him, and hang on Him, so that no power can remove us.—Martin Luther
