Obey Your Thirst

Today's Scripture: Proverbs 18:1
“Our heads ached, and our eyes became bloodshot and dim in the blinding glare…Our tongues began to swell…Our lips turned a purplish black and burst.” Major V. Gilbert and his men desperately needed water. In The Last Crusade, Gilbert wrote how he and his men struggled to survive.
Gilbert’s soldiers desperately fought the enemy. They must either find water or die. Gilbert wrote, “We fought that day as men fight for their lives...” They needed water, and did whatever it took to get it.
If only we desired the wisdom of God as those tired, thirsty soldiers desired water! True wisdom is God’s gift to those who labor for it. Wisdom doesn’t come from sitting in a classroom or church pew; wisdom comes when we earnestly pursue God.
Perhaps as a single parent, you desire God’s wisdom for raising your children. You could be a new pastor eager to begin ministry, but unaware of the challenges involved. Maybe as a student, you need wisdom to make the right decisions at school. As a preschool teacher, you may desire daily wisdom for the different situations you face with the children.
God offers His wisdom to all who seek it. Are you thirsty? You must either find wisdom or die. Earnestly pursue the things of God and your thirst will be quenched.
Today's Quote: Some people want it to happen; some wish it would happen; others make it happen.
