A Faithful Body Helps Everybody

Today's Scripture: Colossians 3:23-24
At maturity, the average human body outperforms the busiest factories. Each day, the adult body performs hundreds of important functions:
• Our heart beats 103,689 times
• Our blood travels 168,000,000 miles
• We breathe 23,040 times and inhale 438 cubic feet of air
• We move 750 muscles
• Our nails grow .000046 inch
• Our hair grows .01714 inch
• We exercise 7,000,000 brain cells
Our bodies were wonderfully created, but they won’t last forever. Someday they will decay, but our souls will live on forever. We lose focus when we emphasize our physical health and appearance over our spiritual condition. The soul has far more value in the eyes of eternity.
Since God created us, He wants everything we do to be for His glory. Serve Him and invest in eternity.
You may be a frustrated youth worker in an AWANA program, doubtful of any meaningful impact you’re having. Perhaps dirty maintenance work makes you feel unnoticed. Or, as a preschool teacher, you work many thankless hours with children.
Why should you keep going when it doesn’t seem worthwhile? Because God sees your sacrifice. You’re laying up treasures in Heaven. Keep serving Him—it’s not in vain.
Today's Quote: In the time we have it is surely our duty to do all the good we can to all the people we can in all the ways we can.—William Barclay
