Fill the Hole

Today's Scripture: John 14:26-28

From binge eating to alcohol, people find their comfort in a myriad of different forms. Couples divorce, teens do drugs and children try to get away from the authority of their parents. Why? Because they all seek a feeling of relief from their issues but do not know where to turn.

Nothing in this world can ever give real solace. Since many people are without Christ, they cannot know true contentment. There is a vital part of their life that is missing, and they struggle in vain to fill that hole.

As believers, we often resort to the world’s tactics to find comfort. Instead of turning to our Heavenly Father to console us, we turn to the latest series on TV, food, music, or hobbies. But the only thing that will bring relief is when we give our troubles to the Lord. We read in our text that the Holy Spirit will comfort us, and give us a relief that the world cannot give.

Have you resorted to the ways of the world to find comfort? Maybe you are a single dad stressed out trying to support and raise your kids. Perhaps you are a teen who is strained by peer pressure. Don’t go to material things for relief. Turn to the only Comforter Who can give you true peace. Why not bring your troubles to Him now? Let Him fill the hole.

No God. No peace. Know God. Know peace. – Author Unknown
