Today's Scripture: I Peter 5:7
After a seven-hour trip from Frankfurt, Germany to her home in New York, six-year-old Elle clung wearily to her father’s hand as they stood waiting for their luggage. The family eagerly grabbed their belongings off the conveyer belt.
Elle struggled to pull her pink suitcase off and began to lug it through the airport. With each step, her suitcase grew heavier.
“Here honey, give me your suitcase. That thing is bigger than you are,” her father said lovingly.
Elle handed it to him with a sigh of relief, “Thanks, Daddy.”
In the Christian life, it is easy to get bogged down with our “suitcases.” We struggle while trying to carry the luggage on our own instead of saying, “Lord, can You bear this burden for me?” He tells us in His Word, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” But we often act like a little child and try to carry it all on our own.
Have you claimed this verse for your life? Whether you are a grandparent burdened for a rebellious grandchild or a single adult anxious you will never find a mate, give your baggage to the Lord. The burdens you drag through life are bigger than you are, but they will never be too heavy for God. Why not hand your cumbersome “suitcase” to your heavenly Father right now? When you give your burdens to Him, you will finally be able to release a sigh of relief.
If He bids us carry a burden, He carries it also. – C.H. Spurgeon
