The Person Makes (or Breaks) the Promise

Today's Scripture: Hebrews 11:11
What was the secret to Sarah’s super strength? How did she defy the odds and manage to trust God’s provision? She anchored her faith in God Himself. This enabled her to wait patiently for the fulfillment of His promise.
Sarah’s faith carried her beyond the limits of “careful” faith. Whereas careful faith ends in talk, genuine faith expresses itself in deeds. The one breaks down when put to the test, while the other survives every trial it encounters. The one is lethargic and weak, the other active and powerful. The first is unproductive, while the other bears fruit to the glory of God.
The strength of a promise lies in the character of the one who gives it. Otherwise, it is merely vain words. When God makes a promise, He supports it with the full essence of His being. Thus, when we trust God’s promise, we are trusting God Himself. Our faith is only as deep as our knowledge of God.
What do you believe about God? Is He strong enough to save your soul, yet so weak that He can’t help you pay your bills? Can His grace preserve your salvation, yet fail to equip you to handle your family crisis? Has God proven Himself faithful in His Word, and yet failed to keep His Word in your situation?
Consider the object of your faith. Upon whose promises are you leaning? Trust in God today. His character guarantees His promises will hold true.
There is a living God; He has spoken in the Bible. He means what He says and will do all He has promised. — Hudson Taylor
