Today's Scripture: Isaiah 33:22

Judge Wright donned his robe, this time to judge his own daughter. “Do you admit to speeding twenty miles per hour over the limit?” he asked as she sat on the stand.

“I was not speeding, I had to get to school on time,” she replied.

“I am sorry, but there are witnesses. I am going to have to make you pay that one hundred dollar speeding ticket. Case closed.”

After everyone else had left, Jenny sat at the back of the courtroom with tears streaming down her cheeks. Her father took off his robe and sat beside her. “Honey, I know you can’t afford to pay the speeding ticket. But there are rules for a reason.” He gave her a hug and slipped a one hundred dollar bill into her hand.

Like Jenny, we often neglect to acknowledge our offences. Then we become frustrated because we are unable to pay our sin debt. Fortunately, we have a Judge and Heavenly Father Who loves us so much He paid our debt Himself. We are told in His Word that He is our Judge, our Lawgiver, and King. And although He does judge our sins, He does so with mercy. He gave his life to pay our sin debt.

When you are frustrated and feel like life is not fair, remember you have a Judge Who loves you and paid your sin debt on the cross. Why not thank Him for how He has freed you from your fines?

Mercy is compassion in action.—Author Unknown
