Same Old Routine

Today's Scripture: Luke 10:20b

“Another day at the office.” Tracy sighed as she shoved more papers into her filing cabinet.

“Yeah, I know,” replied Anna, rolling her eyes. “Everyday I stare at this computer screen, file papers, answer phones, and wish I were somewhere else. It’s always the same old routine.”

Sadly, too many believers have Tracy and Anna’s attitude. We get so distracted by the demands of our daily grind that we forget we have the greatest future possible to look forward to. That alone should be enough to put a smile on our faces.

In our Scripture passage, we are told to rejoice because our names our written in Heaven. What a wonderful thing that is! Aren’t you glad we have life after death?

Whether you are a busy working mom always stuck in the same monotonous schedule or a teenager who feels like the drudgeries of household chores will never end, remember you have so much to look forward to in Heaven. You have the best reason in the world to be happy. Why not write today’s text verse down and put it in a place where you can see it every morning? When Heaven is the first thing you think about, you are bound to have a smile that will refresh your old routine.

We talk about Heaven being so far away. It is within speaking distance of those who belong there.—Dwight L. Moody
