This Little Light
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Won't let Satan blow it out.
I'm gonna let it shine. . .
Let it shine til Jesus comes.
I'm gonna let it shine. . .
Hide it under a bushel - NO!
I'm gonna let it shine . . . let it shine, let it shine.
Have you ever taken time to reflect on the words of this simple children’s song? Last week we celebrated the birth of Jesus with a candle-lighting service. Each one of us was a light in the darkness of our auditorium — just as each believer is a light in the darkness of this sinful world.
As you look back at 2009, think about how you used your light. Did you let it shine brightly for the all the world to see? Perhaps you were ashamed of the gospel and hid your light “under a bushel” when you were with your friends. Maybe you allowed Satan to blow it out by letting your testimony slip in the workplace or at home.
Each of us must shine our light brightly until Jesus comes. Whether the rapture is in a few days or in several years, we need to stay faithful, glowing witnesses till our glorious King returns.
The task is up to us — we are each a little light for Christ. Purpose in your heart this coming year to shine brightly for the entire world to see.
