On the Road Again

Today's Scripture: Psalm 28:7
The Denmore family pulled to the side of the busy highway—the billows of smoke emitting from their vehicle resembling a miniature mushroom cloud. Their faithful little car had stalled en route to their much-anticipated Vermont family vacation.
“Dad, I don’t know what’s wrong,” said sixteen-year-old Alex. “All I did was put gas in the car.”
“What kind of gas?” asked his father.
“Diesel.”
“Well, there’s our problem. In order for the car to run, we have to drain the diesel and fill the tank with the correct fuel—then she’ll be as good as new.”
Sometimes we end up on the side of the road in our Christian life with steam billowing from our engines. We find ourselves burned out from stress, worry, and impatience.
Often we struggle because we are deriving our energy from the wrong fuel. When we seek strength in ourselves, our friends, or the world, we will fail. But when we pursue strength by trusting the Lord, He will help us press on.
Are you stalled on the side of life’s road? You may be stressed by your job or worried about an upcoming deadline. Perhaps you are impatiently waiting for a loved one’s salvation. The only way to get on the road again is to use the right fuel. Go to the Lord right now. Trust Him by placing your problems in His omnipotent hands.
Trust Jesus, and you are saved. Trust self, and you are lost.—C.H. Spurgeon
