Today's Scripture: John 15:1-8
It has been said that golfers can hit the ball in the hole and lie about their score later, while fishermen have to actually bring home the evidence— and then clean it! With soul winning, however, we do the ‘catching,’ while God does the cleansing.
Our part is to fulfill the Great Commission, going throughout the world and sharing the Good News of Christ. In turn, the Lord awakens people with a sense of need for Him. We are like the fishing pole, the instrument God uses to catch the fish. The power that saves is not in the instrument; rather, it is in the hand of the One Who uses the instrument.
A basketball in my hands is worth $15; yet in the hands of Michael Jordan, that ball is worth $30 million—it makes a difference whose hands it’s in! A baseball in my hand is worth $30; but in the hand of Alex Rodriguez, it’s worth over $42 million—it all depends upon whose hands it’s in! These athletes can take the simple ball that characterizes their sport and do extraordinary things with it.
We are the instruments through which God performs the extraordinary. God works best with willing vessels; He molds best with pliable materials. We are His handiwork. Let’s give Him the best building materials we can afford!
Today's Quote: It is not the mere touching of the flower by the bee that gathers honey, but her abiding for a time…that draws out the sweet. —Thomas Brooks
