Religion Versus Christianity

Today's Scripture: Romans 3:10-19

You probably didn’t have to get very far this morning to realize that evil exists in this world. And unless you are a Christian and can view life through the lens of a biblical world view—you’re constantly going to be puzzled and amazed at the depth of human depravity.

In the book of Romans, the Apostle Paul shares the premise for the Christian faith. All men are evil—there is no goodness in anyone. Because every person who has ever lived has been born into sin, every man is in need of a Savior. Jesus Christ is that Savior and He assumed all sin—from the most heinous to the tiny white lie—and offers forgiveness and righteousness.

This is a radical departure from contemporary religion. Religion teaches that man is basically good and that given the right environment, he will produce goodness. Society can enlighten itself and become more peaceful. But everyday headlines and personal tragedies in your own life shatter that myth. There is no peace, no goodness, no love in this world.

That’s why people need a Savior. That’s why you need a Savior. That Savior is Jesus Christ. He came to redeem you from evil and give you a new life.

So what will you do with Jesus?

Today's Quote:  Sin is the only thing that God abhors. It brought Christ to the cross, it damns souls, it shuts heaven, it laid the foundations of Hell. —Thomas Brooks
