God’s Will–My Way?

Today's Scripture: Isaiah 55:8-9

"But God, this was your will?" How often have you found yourself saying those words? Maybe you uttered them today, after seeing something that seemed so right get snatched away.

There are times when it seems like we know God’s will and we pursue it with vigor. Suddenly what seemed like an open door becomes an impenetrable brick wall.

Why does God do this? Why does he not allow a childless couple to conceive? Why does he allow a godly woman to endure a divorce not of her own making? Why does he allow a dedicated pastor to be unfairly kicked out of his church?

All these people want is to do God’s will. All you want to do is to do God’s Will. And yet, only God knows His will. And when our version of it conflicts with His version—guess who’s wrong? Not God.

Ask Moses who thought he’d lead the Hebrews in a revolt against the Kingdom of Egypt. Ask David who, though anointed king, had to run for his life. Ask Daniel who prayed him self into a den of lions.

There are two truths that will get you through these moments. First, God is never wrong. And second, God can be trusted.

God may not fulfill His will your way, but in the end you’ll be glad God fulfilled His will—His way.

Today's Quote:  There are no tears in Heaven, and there would be few on earth, if the Will of God was only done.—D.L. Moody
