Today's Scripture: Colossians 3:16

I recently had Dr. Art Rorheim stay at my house for the weekend, but I didn’t expect to come home and find out that he’d repainted all the walls. “Jim,” he said, “I decided I didn’t like the color of your paint, so I changed it to pink and purple.” Of course Art didn’t do that and never would. He is a gracious visitor. I’m just kidding here, but it illustrates a point.

Dr. Rorheim wouldn’t have the right to change the paint color of my home since he is just a visitor. But when a person lives in a house, he can do whatever he wants to it simply because he owns it. The definition of dwell, in the Greek, means to feel at home. When the word of God dwells in us, it is at home in us, and our bodies are the earthly abiding place of God. Therefore His Word should not only be in our minds, but our hearts and souls as well.

God is not just a passing visitor, but has permanent residence in our lives and should feel at home. And anything God wants changed in our lives, He has the right to because He lives there. Have you given full control of yourself to God this week? Or are you resisting the improvements He wants to make?

I encourage each of you to take a minute and decide today if God is just visiting or dwelling in your life.

Today's Quote:  Let the Word of God dwell in you richly...
