Today's Scripture: Mark 16:1-7

The Bohemian reformer John Hus was a man who believed the Scriptures to be the infallible and supreme authority in all matters. He died at the stake for that belief in Constance, Germany, on his forty-second birthday.

As he refused a final plea to renounce his faith, his last words were, “What I taught with my lips, I seal with my blood.”

Most of Christ’s disciples also died martyr’s deaths, yet their actions on the night of the crucifixion presented a far different picture than one of bravery. Peter denied the Lord three times during the tense moments after Christ’s arrest. When he heard the rooster crow, he realized what he had done and went out and wept bitterly.

I can only imagine how Peter felt as his tears fell. And yet we see that his bitterness didn’t ruin him. After the resurrection, Jesus wanted Peter to know he was forgiven. He had told the women to “tell the disciples and Peter” that He had risen from the dead.

Peter’s dynamic sermon on the day of Pentecost showed a complete change from the timid disciple of a few weeks before. And so your life can be transformed from one of failure to one of victory. The Lord will uphold you when you go to Him in prayer. Why don’t you take a moment to do that right now?

Today's Quote:  Life’s best outlook is a prayerful uplook.
