Today's Scripture: Deuteronomy 3:28
The sandhill cranes have some remarkable qualities. These large birds commute incredible distance—even traveling from one continent to the next. In addition, they give their leader time to rest while some of the other birds take over.
Another fascinating thing about these birds is that they choose a leader that can handle turbulence. Then, all during the time one bird leads, the rest are honking, signaling their support.
Are you in a situation where it is time for you to support someone else? In the Bible, there is a great example of this. Moses led the children of Israel through the wilderness for 40 years, but he was growing old.
God had chosen another leader, Joshua. But Joshua did what many of us do when we are selected for a position. He was nervous about it. Leading millions of people into a strange land, building new lives for them…this must have felt like an overwhelming task!
Yet, God gave Moses a job to do before he died. Moses was to go and encourage Joshua. He was to give Joshua the confidence that he could do the job that had been entrusted to him.
Maybe today you need to help your co-worker or boss. Take encouragement from God and know that He will strengthen you for the assignment.
Today's Quote: True service is love for Christ in working clothes.
