Today’s Scripture: We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19

Six specifications made one man virtually unmistakable to miss. A traitor and spy from World War II, David Greenglass, sold atomic secrets to Russia and Mexico. His conspirators made an arrangement to help him get a passport so that he could escape to safety. The secretary of the Russian ambassador in Mexico City was the man to carry out the plan. Proper identification of both the secretary and David Greenglass was crucial so that the transaction would identify Greenglass as the proper recipient of the passport.

They had six prearranged signs:

  1. Once Greenglass was in the city, he was to write the secretary and sign the letter as I. Jackson.
  2. After three days, he was to go stand in the Plaza of the city,
  3. Positioned by the Columbus statue,
  4. With his middle finger placed in a guidebook.
  5. When he was approached, he was to say, “This is a magnificent statue.” and…
  6. Mention he was from Oklahoma.

After this, the secretary was to give him the passport. What are the odds for that to happen at random? Obviously, not many, otherwise the plan would have not been viewed as secure. As Believers, we have 456 identifying markers to identify Christ as the Messiah, not just 6. Hundreds of prophecies in the Old Testament have been fulfilled: the Messiah’s birth in Bethlehem, birth from a virgin, from the line of Judah and the line of David, preceded by a messenger, to come riding on a donkey, to be rejected as the messiah, he would work miracles, death by crucifixion, pierced with no broken bones, buried in a rich man’s tomb-just to name a few. He couldn’t have picked or known his mother, birthplace, or form of execution hundreds of years in advance if He was not the Son of God. Think about how you can share these truths with other people.

Maybe there is a coworker who you are too insecure to share your faith with, or perhaps you have a Jewish friend who needs answers about the true Messiah. You have all the tools you need. There are so many prophecies you can use to prove Jesus is truly God and lead others to the truth. Graciously present the truth in love and live each day shining forth His light in your life. The rest is up to God.
