Today’s Scripture: Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Luke 16:27-28

If you are not familiar with the story of the rich man and Lazarus, be sure to read Luke 16:19-31. We will be focusing on just one small detail of the story today. The rich man begged Abraham to raise Lazarus back from dead and send him to the rich man’s family. The rich man had lost all hope of his torment ever ending, and his only desire was for his loved ones to not experience what he was experiencing.

Lazarus did not go to his family. That was the job for those who were alive. The same thing applies today. We have the job to preach the gospel to the entire world. God could send people back from the dead to do our job, but He won’t. We must do it.

God has commanded us to witness, the saints that have come before us are cheering for us to witness (Heb. 12:1), and the dead without Christ are begging us to witness. Will you do what everyone who has ever died wishes that you will do? God told us to give the Gospel; there should be no discussion after that, but we are also being pleaded to share our faith. Are you ashamed of the Gospel of Christ? You ought not be! It is the power unto salvation, but they won’t hear the message if we don’t tell it.
