|Lebron James’ Caveliers beat the Chicago Bulls in Chicago on May 14, 2015 to advance towards the 2015 NBA finals. The Bulls had been up 2-1 but lost the seven game series in just 6 games. Being from Chicago, but living in Ohio, I had a decision to make. For this series, I decided to cheer for the Bulls. My wife, on the other hand, cheered for the Cavs. She said, “We live here now. We might as well be for Ohio.” So much for loyalty!
Lebron James and some of his teammates had on warm up jerseys that said, “ALL IN.” They sure played like they were all in. Especially considering their injuries as the series progressed.
With your Christian life, are you all in? Or when the going gets rough, do you start to fade or phase out? Go to church a little less? Meditate on scripture less? Put less priority on hearing God’s word taught?
God wants fully committed followers. Salvation is free, but discipleship is costly. Both are fully by grace through faith. God has said He’ll test our faith to make it stronger and better. When that happens, do you run for the hills or embrace the cleansing flame?
God tries our faith because He loves us. The refining process can happen more efficiently if we’ll stay “all in” when He cranks up the heat.
