Today’s Scripture: Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:5-6

There was once a missionary who was explaining the message of salvation to a young boy. He listened thoughtfully and intently, but did not trust Christ that day. The missionary had to leave the village that day, but a few days later was able to return. She saw the young boy, who now had a broad smile on his face. When she asked him why he was smiling, he replied, “Miss Missionary, I always knew that Jesus Christ was necessary for salvation, but until a few days ago, I didn’t know that He was enough.”

Christ is not only all in revelation and in creation, but He is all in salvation. Jesus Christ is not a way, He is THE way, THE truth, and THE life. Religion is Jesus plus something– salvation is Jesus only.

Salvation is not found through faith in faith, faith in prayer, faith in baptism or a sacrament, or faith in our fruit. Salvation is found through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Unfortunately, many people, whether intentionally or unintentionally, muddy up the Gospel message, making it unclear.

Christian, we must remember that Jesus Christ is enough. We cannot rely on our works, or our fruit. Those things change and fail. Jesus will never change, and He will never fail. He is all we need in salvation.
