What is the best way to reach dignitaries with the gospel? By seizing opportunities to reach ordinary people. Last year I traveled to Fiji with a mission team, and we had the opportunity to share Bibles with thousands of schoolchildren. Our team also had many opportunities to preach Christ to the Fijian people.
One of my team members was a world-renowned Creation scientist. This man had been scheduled to preach at a church in the capital city of Suva. In an effort to draw a large crowd for this man, we distributed fliers advertising the speaking engagement. Among those who took our fliers were two young boys from a special needs school. To my amazement, on the next day the two boys came to hear our special speaker – and they brought their entire school to the service. Many schoolchildren trusted in Christ as their Savior.
Afterwards, I received a call from one of the teachers asking if I would speak at the school’s commencement ceremony. I was eager to have this opportunity. When our mission team arrived at the facility, there were not only children, parents, and teachers present, but also a number of high-ranking political figures including the ambassador from Australia. Everyone heard the gospel that day, and I hope and pray many responded to the message.
Everyone needs to hear the gospel – people of high and low estate alike. When we are faithful to tell others, God will bring people across our path who need to hear the message. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be used as His mouthpiece when a lost soul is ready to trust in Christ?
You do not have to travel abroad as I did to be a soul winner. You do not have to be a pastor or church leader for God to use you to lead another to the Savior. You do not have to be married, employed, educated, popular, wealthy, talented, or proficient in several languages to be an effective witness for Christ. If you are willing to open your mouth when the opportunity presents itself, God will open doors for you. He wants to use you today.
