Today’s Scripture: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

It is wonderful the effect of a single verse of Scripture when the Spirit of God applies it to the soul. -C.H. SpurgeonIf an archer fired at a target and missed, but hit a bird nearby, no one would question his skill, but his error might cost him a victory. Martin Luther stated: “If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the Devil are at the moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ.”

People may never question our biblical insight when we “hit” them with fancy clich├ęs and Christian jargon, but if we don’t address the issues in question, we may lose them for eternity. A.W. Tozer wrote in That Incredible Christian, “Unused truth becomes as useless as an unused muscle.”

Whenever we hear something from God’s Word, we need to practice it so God is honored. The world must know Christianity is relevant. We cannot compromise God’s truth, but must apply it to issues in question. It provides answers for our families, our jobs, and the circumstances which affect them.

You may be a student wondering how God’s truth applies to your conduct, or you might be a parent searching for its applications to child-raising. You could be a teacher, puzzled about its relevance in a Godless school system.

Ask God today how you can practically apply His Word to every area of your life, and you will win the spiritual victory.
