Before he went into politics, Abraham Lincoln worked as a lawyer. His responsibilities made him extremely busy, but he still made time for his two young children. He pulled them in a little wagon or took walks with them. They spent time together.

Time is one of the greatest gifts you can give your spouse or children. Together, you can enjoy fun and Christian fellowship. I remember going shopping with my daughters for my wife’s birthday. We went from store to store, searching for the perfect gift. We finally went to an upscale retailer and sampled their perfume. After finding the fragrance perfect for Karen, we asked how much it cost. We were awestruck to learn it cost $189.00. So we ended up buying Karen a snow blower instead.

I’m kidding about the snow blower, but I really enjoyed a great time with my kids that day.

Can laughter and fun intersect with our Christian faith? Absolutely. Create an atmosphere of faith at home. Openly discuss insights from your own walk with God. Conduct a family Bible study. Be honest and upfront with them. You don’t have to be perfect—just be real. Set a consistent example they can follow on Monday as well as Sunday, and be there when they need you.

Faith and fun don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Let Christ join in your fun, and watch how your family relationships improve.
