Today’s Scripture: Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Ephesians 4:18

Christ has given all of us a job. It is our responsibility to explain the gospel and live a good testimony. The reason why this job is so important is because people are blind. I had wondered about that blindness, but Pastor Paul Julian gave an excellent example that describes the world’s blindness.

Years ago, we traveled to India together. While traveling by bus down the roads, there would be many people walking in the opposite direction that we were going. The lights from the bus would shine in their eyes, and they were blinded. However, the headlights gave all of us in the bus a beautiful panorama of what was happening. The lights that were allowing us to see were the same lights that were blinding the people walking towards us. Had those people turned around the light would have given them a better view, but when they were heading the opposite direction, the lights blinded them.

So it is with the gospel light. People are blinded from the truth because they are walking the wrong way. Our job is to turn them around and say, “Look over there! This makes a lot more sense.” That’s when they’ll see it.

Are you willing to share your faith with those who are blinded from the truth, or are you unwilling to start that conversation because those people are so adamant that they are right? Remember, it is a commandment of God to share the gospel with everyone. Let’s determine today to point people in the right direction so that they will be able to see.
