Today’s Scripture: For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12  So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Romans 14:11-12

From immature behavior and excessive spending to DUI’s and drug usage, celebrities tend to be self-consumed individuals. They are content to go about their luxurious lives without a care—unless their high-end vehicle gets a ding.

It seems like most of these people could care less about God and the clear gospel. So why do we clamor for them?

Celebrity reality shows are a huge hit. Magazines that publish insider stories on the latest Hollywood gossip sell so quickly businesses struggle to keep them in stock.

T-shirts and other memorabilia covered in pictures of the latest sports stars, vocalists and actors get snatched up every day. Adults are consumed with them and teens idolize their every move.

This ought not to be true for believers. By watching the celebrity reality shows and reading all the gossip about them, we are supporting their actions. Not only are we condoning it, but we are also wasting precious time. One day the Lord will judge the lives of men. Not only will the celebrities give account for their behavior, but so will we.

Do you idolize celebrities? Whether you are a teenager who looks up to the latest star or an adult who can’t make it through the week without seeing the latest celebrity show, remember, we will all have to give an account to God for how we spent our time. Focus on God’s Word, and you won’t get swept away in the celebrity clamor.
