Today’s Scripture: There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:12
Are you aware of the historical significance this day holds? On this date in 1865, President Abraham Lincoln signed the resolution submitting the Thirteenth Amendment to become a part of the United Stated Constitution. Because of his desire to see all men free, President Lincoln proposed this amendment which changed the course of American history.
On June 30, 1948, President Harry Truman signed the bill proclaiming February 1st as National Freedom Day. Today, we commemorate the signing of the amendment which outlawed slavery throughout the U.S.—an amendment which changed countless lives for the better.
Sadly, there are still slaves all over America—not enslaved to an earthly master, but to sin and the devil. Because they have not heard of the saving grace of Jesus Christ, many still walk through life burdened by shackles invisible to men. They go about each day with heavy fetters chaining them down to this world.
We are here to win souls to Christ’s kingdom. We hold the truth which can set them free and the responsibility to do so by sharing the gospel.
Use today as a reminder of your need to share the saving grace of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection with a lost and dying world. Give men and women the truth which will disintegrate their chains and truly set them free. Help change the course of their lives forever with God’s grace.
