|Chicken soup is the go-to food for when we’re feeling ill. Not only is it easy to swallow, and delicious, but it also warms you up inside and actually helps fight colds. Studies have shown that it hinders the movement of certain white blood cells which reduces upper respiratory cold symptoms. It also helps air flow and mucus movement in the nasal passages better than water. On top of that, it also helps the cilia in the nose to be more effective in preventing contagions from entering the body.
Just as chicken soup can give relief in the midst of a bad cold, remembering that someday the trials we face will be gone forever can encourage us to press on. You may feel discouraged and want to give up, not sure how you could ever make it, but having the hope of heaven can help us through the hard times. What we are going through can’t even be compared to the glory of heaven. God loves you, knows what you are going through, and promises to make “all things work together for good.”
No matter what we’re going through, we can be assured that one day it will all be over. God will wipe our tears from our eyes, and there will be no more sorrow, crying, pain, or death. If the troubles of this life are making you ill, meditate on the joys of heaven and the fact that you can spend eternity there because of what Christ did for you.
