Today’s Scripture: Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14
Not long ago, I requested our church orchestra do something completely out of the norm in the middle of our morning service. Usually, each song they play has been chosen and practiced ahead of time. On this particular morning, in the middle of my sermon, I requested the orchestra to come back up and each instrument play whatever they wanted. The dissonant disaster that followed was a discord our congregation would prefer to never hear again.
I used that sound to illustrate the discord that occurs in our lives when we build close relationships with the unsaved. When the Corinthians were being swayed by their fellowship with unbelievers, the Apostle Paul wrote them a very honest letter in 2 Corinthians 6.
Perhaps you know a person in your life who is interested in dating an unsaved person. Save them the heartache and speak the truth to them. Friend, if you want to prevent discord in your life, you need to obey God’s Word. Only then will you be in tune with what God has for you.
