Today’s Scripture: So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 1 Corinthians 15:54
Humans are frail. Those aches and pains we experience each day are proof that we are falling apart. Our body is corruptible. The word “corruptible” literally means we are decaying and perishable. Decaying implies that we are fragile and dying. Perishable implies that we have an expiration date. Someone explained it as having a stamp right in the middle of our back, and we can’t see it with a mirror – our expiration date. Truly, corruptible is the current state of our bodies. This is what sin did to mankind.
When Christ defeated sin and death on the cross, he made it possible for us to no longer be defined corruptible. During the rapture, our corruptible will put on incorruption! Our mortal will put on “mmortality! Immortality literally means deathlessness.
Our bodies will be undying and everlasting. Not only will there be no death, but there will also be no pain. Death is swallowed up in victory!
Immortality is not a fictional idea; God’s Word says we will put on immortality. We have been given everlasting life and we will be given everlasting bodies in Heaven if we have trusted Jesus Christ as our Savior. We ought to be so excited for what God has done and will do. Let’s live today in light of eternity and not live for this world.
