Today’s Scripture: And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. LukeĀ 2:15-16

The angels had announced peace on earth and goodwill to all men. They had told the shepherds that the Savior was born that day in Bethlehem. The shepherds were given a sign so they knew exactly where to go. Multitudes of angels had appeared in the sky praising God. The sight must have been spectacular, but now it was quiet. The angels had left and they were sitting alone on the hillside.

As the angels returned to Heaven, the shepherds immediately responded by saying, “Let’s get going!” There was no delay in wanting to meet the Savior. They heard the glad tidings and wanted to see the things that the Lord had made known. This attitude is one that we need to have. Once we know what we are supposed to do, we need to do it without delay.

The shepherds heard the good news about the Savior. Their response was to go to the Savior as soon as possible. When we share the good news of salvation with someone, we need to urge them to make a decision now. When we read or hear a truth from God’s Word, we need to obey promptly. When we have fallen into sin, we need to confess it immediately. Don’t delay; there is no time to waste. Let’s get close to the Savior today.
