When you make something, your creation shouldn’t talk back. Ever. I guess one exception would be computers. They seem to talk back all the time, don’t they? Another example would be GPS units. First they tell you, “Turn left,” and then they say, “Recalculating. . . .”
Of course we understand computers and GPS units can only respond to us as their manufacturer has pre-programmed them to do. But human beings haven’t been pre-programmed. God has given us a free will, leaving us without excuse for complaining against Him. To do this is utter foolishness.
This foolishness is best portrayed in a child who mocks, complains against, or criticizes his parents. I can’t stand to see it happen. When I do, I want to ask the child involved, “Don’t you know if it weren’t for Mom and Dad you wouldn’t be here? Maybe you should be a little kinder in talking about them.”
We are often guilty of doing the same with Almighty God. Why would any mere human being, a creature of dust, try to prove the infinite God wrong? He has given us life, strength, health, and salvation. He supplies our needs, directs the course of our lives, and gives us instruction from His Word. Yes, God cares when we’re critical of Him.
Life may not be what you think it should be. You may be unemployed, divorced, or without many friends. But you have a Creator Who cares about you. Just read Romans 8, and you’ll see how much He cares. Friend, I hope you will choose to be thankful instead of critical of Him today.
Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain, and most fools do. — Benjamin Franklin
